How much does a Cotswold wedding venue really cost?

Picture this: you’ve just said “yes” and you’re ready to start planning the wedding day of your dreams. But then reality sets in, and you need to figure out how much it’s all going to cost you. The good news is that a Cotswold barn wedding might actually be more attainable than you think. Today, we unpack everything you need to know about wedding venue prices, and explain how a Cotswold barn venue can actually offer the most incredible value…

What’s really behind wedding venue prices?

For most couples, the biggest expenditure (and often the very first decision you’ll make) is the venue. Your wedding venue provides the backdrop for your ceremony, reception, and photographs, setting the stage where every moment of the day will unfold. So it’s no wonder that choosing the right setting feels like such a big decision.

Wedding venue prices can vary enormously depending on the location, time of year, and what’s included. Some venues may appear cheaper initially, but once you start adding on all the essentials like tables, chairs, glassware, and catering, this figure can soon grow.

This is where an all-inclusive barn venue really comes into its own. At Lapstone Barn, our packages include everything you could possibly need to celebrate. You’ll get exclusive use of the venue, a choice of beautiful ceremony and reception spaces, table and chairs, glassware, and a dedicated team to ensure your day runs smoothly without any hiccups.

Our pricing structure is simple and transparent, featuring a venue hire fee, plus your food and drink options, and accommodation – there’s no hidden extras or nasty surprises to worry about!

Beautiful Cotswolds barn hire without the hefty price tag

There’s a common misconception that barn weddings are out of reach when it comes to cost, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. In reality, barns offer the perfect balance: they’re full of charm and character, and are often more affordable than you might expect. When you hire a wedding barn venue, you’re not paying towards the upkeep of a sprawling estate or a luxury hotel. Instead, your investment goes directly into maintaining a stunning wedding space that’s fully equipped for your celebration.

Better still, most barns (including ours) work with or recommend some fantastic local suppliers and caterers. That way, you can rest assured that every little detail will be taken care of, without having to spend hours sourcing your own suppliers. This helps you stay in control of your costs and allows you to focus on celebrating your day in your own unique way, rather than stressing about your bank balance.

Why on-site accommodation makes life easier

Another way that many couples keep their wedding finances in check is by choosing venues that offer on-site accommodation. We have three gorgeous properties on-site, sleeping up to 26 of your nearest and dearest: The Stables (sleeping 12, including the Bridal Suite), The Farmhouse (sleeping 10), and The Cottage (sleeping 4). There’s plenty of space for your closest family and friends to stay, so you can carry on partying well into the night.

Our accommodation will be automatically reserved for the night of your wedding. You can either factor the cost of the accommodation into your own budget, or invite your guests to contribute to their stay. Either way, it’s a simple solution that saves you the hassle and expense of organising late-night transport.

Consider an out of season winter wedding

Gone are the days of couples only tying the knot on a Saturday in summer – we’re seeing lots of couples choosing to say their vows mid-week and in the midst of winter. There’s something very ‘hygge’ about a wedding out of season – it’s a really intimate, cosy affair – think roaring log fires, twinkling fairy lights, gorgeous knitted throws and perhaps even a sprinkling of snow on the ground.

And of course, a huge benefit of a wedding out of season is the price – at Lapstone Barn, a Saturday winter wedding in January or February is half the price of a summer wedding. Move that to mid-week and the price comes down even further.

Suddenly the price of that Cotswold wedding venue you’ve got your heart set on looks much more appealing!

Don’t discount late availability offers

It is worth keeping an eye on late availability packages as late wedding venue prices can often be discounted.

But a late availability wedding doesn’t mean you have to get married next week – at Lapstone Barn, it can mean booking up to six months – and even 12 months –  ahead. So, for an enquiry that is made in September 2025, for us, late availability could mean a booking in spring 2026.

We update the dates and prices of our late availability on a regular basis, so keep an eye out on our late availability offers and you might be pleasantly surprised!

Things to consider when comparing the prices of barn venues

When comparing the costs of barn venue hire, don’t just look at the headline price. Ask yourself (or the venue):

  • Does the fee include exclusive use of the venue?
  • Are tables, chairs, and glassware provided?
  • Is there space for both the ceremony and reception?
  • Is accommodation available on-site or nearby?
  • Will you have a dedicated coordinator to support your day?
  • Does the pricing structure make it clear what’s included and what might be an additional cost?
  • How do the out of season wedding prices compare?
  • Is there a late availability discount?

The answers to these questions will make a big difference to your budget, and ultimately your enjoyment of your big day.
