Lapstone Barn Blog Test

Wedding Planning

Can you recommend any wedding suppliers?
Yes we do have a little black book of local wedding suppliers who come highly recommended by our team. They have all worked at Lapstone Barn many times and know just how everything ticks here. You are able to use other suppliers too, but please let your wedding coordinator know so that we can check they have adequate insurance in place.
What should we do with our dog on our wedding day?
You are welcome to bring dogs on your wedding day - we will have the treats ready! Please note there is a cleaning charge of £25 per dog in our accommodation.
Can we use fireworks?
Sadly not due to a planning restriction, but you are more than welcome to bring sparklers or smoke bombs to use outside - both make for great photos!
Can my guests camp?
No, please do not camp in the grounds. We have on-site accommodation for up to 26 people and there is lots of lovely local accommodation in Chipping Campden and Broadway, and campsites in Broadway and Moreton-in-Marsh.
Can cars be left overnight?
Yes, but they must be collected by 9.30am the following morning.
Can I have confetti?
Absolutely, but please only use the natural/dried petal variety. This can be thrown inside or outside, depending on where you would like your photos.
What crops will be in the fields on our wedding day?
Being located in the middle of a working farm, we enjoy incredible views across open countryside, which change throughout the year. Whilst we are able to advise what crops will be planted over the next 12 months or so, please be aware that time of year and weather conditions will affect farming patterns and therefore what the fields look like.
Do we have to tidy up after our wedding?

No, we will do all the cleaning and tidying! All decorations and belongings must be collected between 8-9.30am the day after your wedding. Everything is brought to the reception of the barn so it’s easy to collect.
Does the bar accept cash and card?
Yes, both!
Do you have a sound system?
We have a sound system that is suitable for ceremony, drinks reception and wedding breakfast music. If you would like to use it, please provide a Spotify playlist and clearly label what is to be played when.  You can provide music to be played when guests arrive/are seated, walking down the aisle, signing the register, leaving the ceremony, drinks reception and wedding breakfast.  We recommend that you organise a Band/DJ for the evening entertainment. We also have microphones that can be used to make announcements and for speeches.
How to do the wedding table plan - who sits where?
We require a table plan to ensure a smooth service. We have templates available if you need a hand - just get in touch with the team who will be happy to send these over. It is up to you to decide who sits where at a wedding. Whether you choose round tables or rustic trestle tables, we can lay a top table for the couple and the wedding party. Read our helpful blog "Top tips for deciding who sits where at a wedding" for some useful ideas!
Do you provide table linen?
White table cloths and linen napkins are included in your venue hire fee. We can hire coloured linen to match your colour scheme for a small cost. Just let us know your thoughts!
What table layout should I have? Rustics or rounds?
You choose! We have either round tables complete with white linen or rustic trestle tables for your wedding breakfast. There are lots of different layout options and we have templates and photos we can show you if you’d like some ideas.
How do I set everything up and get ready on time?
Your wedding suppliers will have access to the barn from 10am on your wedding day so they can drop items of and/or set anything up that requires installation. The final planning meeting is the perfect opportunity to discuss any decorations you plan to bring yourselves and where you would like them placed in the Barn. On the morning of your wedding, your coordinator will put any place names, favours and centrepieces on your tables for the wedding breakfast. We find it works best to bring a labelled box for each table. Please label any boxes of décor with clear instructions of where you would like it placed.
Why do I need a wedding planner?
Our wedding coordinators have years of experience in wedding planning at Lapstone Barn and are an invaluable support to our couples. They understand how weddings work at the barn and can help with the planning and coordination of your big day, from the main event to the smaller details that you might not have thought of. Couples at Lapstone Barn are assigned their own wedding coordinator, which is included in our wedding venue hire fee. Some couples choose to instruct their own wedding planner to plan all the details of the day, in which case our wedding coordinator would liaise with them and support them on your wedding day.
How long should it take to plan our wedding?
We usually advise couples to allow 12-18 months to plan a wedding, although this can depend on the size and scale of the day you have in mind. Be mindful that many wedding suppliers get booked up in well advance, so if you have your mind set on a particular photographer or wedding cake maker, then the sooner you set a date, the better. It is also a good idea to give your guests as much notice as possible, especially if they are travelling from overseas.  Our event coordinator is on hand to help with every aspect of your wedding planning at Lapstone Barn. You are welcome to come to the barn as many times as you like to sort all of the details for your day with your wedding suppliers and family or friends. We will invite you to a final planning meeting after your food tasting and this is normally held six to eight weeks before your wedding. This will be on a weekday at Lapstone Barn or alternatively we can hold meetings over Zoom.
How far in advance should we book our wedding venue?
Of course, we always advise couples to book as early as possible to give you the best chance of securing the date and day of your choice. At Lapstone Barn, we invite you to book a viewing directly through our website. After your viewing we can reserve your chosen date. We take bookings up to two years in advance but most people choose 12-18 months lead time for planning - but we can also take bookings at very short notice, so get in touch for late availability!
Our guests have lots of dietary requirements, can you cater for them?
Yes, we will ask for a table plan prior to the wedding but we can cater for all dietary requirements and these are included in our menu prices. Please have a chat with our wedding coordinators if you are worried.
When do we get access to the venue?
You can access to the Hayloft and the Barn from 10am on the morning of your wedding. Early access is available to the Hayloft for an additional £100, subject to availability.
What time should our wedding ceremony be?
When you call the Registry Office, they will ask you to book a ceremony time with them. At Lapstone Barn you can get married at any time of day, but we recommend between midday and 3pm, with 2pm being the most common.
Can you give me some example timings for the day?
Obviously this is totally flexible, but a wedding day typically runs to these timings:
  • 10am Arrival at Lapstone Barn
  • 2pm Wedding ceremony
  • 2.30pm Drinks reception
  • 4.15pm Wedding breakfast
  • 6.15pm Speeches

  • 8pm Cut cake and first dance
  • 9.30pm Late night snacks
  • 12.30am Bar closes
  • 12.45am Music off
  • 1am Carriages

What time should you arrive at a wedding?
Generally we suggest that guests arrive 30 minutes before your wedding ceremony begins. If you are having a pre-ceremony drinks reception we suggest guests are invited an hour before your ceremony time.
What time do weddings usually end?
We have an entertainment licence until 1am and are licensed to serve alcohol until 12.30am. We usually advise carriages no later than 1am.

  • 9.30pm Late night snacks
  • 12.30am Bar closes
  • 12.45am Music off
  • 1am Carriages

What time should you arrive at a wedding?
Generally we suggest that guests arrive 30 minutes before your wedding ceremony begins. If you are having a pre-ceremony drinks reception we suggest guests are invited an hour before your ceremony time.
What time do weddings usually end?
We have an entertainment licence until 1am and are licensed to serve alcohol until 12.30am. We usually advise carriages no later than 1am.

  • 7pm Evening guests arrive
